December 19, 2025, the Cue and Curtain Drama Club visited several elementary schools such as Woodglen Elementary School and Little Tor Elementary School. The Drama Club performers brought such joy to the young children, interacting with them as characters from original stories.
The two children’s plays: Wishin’ Impossible, co-directed by Regina Chazan and written and co-directed by Alec Burstein, and Storytime, written and co-directed by Caspar Cruz and co-directed by Dara Noel, were nothing short of engaging, entertaining, and enchanting. Children’s plays not only foster an atmosphere of excitement in the elementary schools, but they ease the transition from having school everyday to the long upcoming break.
Children’s plays, according to director Regina Chazan, are “completely student led. Essentially, the students write, direct, cast, costume, and act in these shows…” They are “curated for elementary school students, designed to bring the magic of theater to their schools… and teach them important lessons.”

The Children’s plays, meant to bring joy to the students, also bring great experience to the high school students of Clarkstown North. The Cue and Curtain members are able to use their imagination, creativity, and build their writing skills through creating their own plays. In addition, students are given the opportunity to direct plays, which isn’t a common occurrence. Students have to learn how to guide their peers, maintain a professional attitude, and communicate with others throughout these plays.

Director Regina Chazan states that there weren’t “any challenges when directing peers, they are all very passionate, dedicated, easygoing people with a lot of good ideas… I’m really happy with all of the work they all put in to make our children’s play something everyone could be proud of.” Cue and Curtain performer Len Douglas states that the “elementary schoolers were excited and active. They thought the plays were very silly. There was a lot of laughter, a lot of tears, and they gave us great reactions. For one of the shows, we allowed kids to come on stage to help the actors out and the kids were all very excited to perform and see their friends onstage. I really hope that we inspired some young actors to come perform at Cue and Curtain in the future.”
Overall, the 2025 Children’s plays were extremely successful. We are all anxiously awaiting the plans for next year.
