Every season has a turning point, whether that is when drill from practice translates into the game, or when the team chemistry finally clicks. For the Clarkstown North Boys Lacrosse team, that moment arrived in late April. After a harsh early schedule that tested the limits of the team, only winning 2 of 8 games, the Rams have heated up the last half of the season, winning 6 of the 7 games and bringing their record to 8-7.
Their offense has been active and their defense has been locked. This was clearly seen in their 11-3 win over North Salem and 12-8 road victory against Ardsley earlier this week.
What would have been completely demoralizing to most, the Rams’ early losses to North Rockland and South just fueled them for the later season. Head Coach Ferrari went back to the drawing board. Since then, the Rams have completely transformed into a different team, outscoring opponents 42-18 over the last 5 games.
Senior Ryan McMahan has been a force on attack, proving why he is a future collegiate player. Additionally, the backline has become more like a wall. The Rams held Albertus Magnus and Hastings to just 3 goals each– a true example of improved communication and teamwork. The hardworking midfield proved to be the last piece to the puzzle: dominating ground balls and giving North extra possessions.
