As the regular season for the varsity girls’ flag football team draws to a close, they’re gearing up for the first round of playoffs. This marks the second year since the introduction of the varsity girls’ flag football program at the school. The new sport has allowed students from both Clarkstown North High School and Clarkstown South High School to come together and play as one team.
Last year, the girls advanced to the semi-finals where they faced Scarsdale, a team that had been defeated only once throughout the entire season. Despite the loss, the girls put up a fight against them, even enduring pouring rain during the game. They lost by just one point. The girls are back for another round of playoffs, determined and prepared for victory this time around.

This program has been truly remarkable, bringing together two schools through the power of sports. What began as a small team has grown immensely throughout the year, fostering unity among the players. The girls have truly demonstrated that football doesn’t have to be labeled as exclusively a sport for guys. Every day, the girls are making the program bigger and better, showing their dedication to its growth and improvement.
