Girls Basketball:
Coming off two wins before winter break, the North girls’ varsity basketball team is set to face Poughkeepsie this week. In their first win of the season at White Plains, sophomore Natalia Clemente was named game MVP. Following that big win, the Rams defeated Mount Vernon, with Emily Savedoff securing the victory on a 3-pointer, assisted by Bella Lopez, with 10 seconds remaining on the clock. The girls have their first league game against North Rockland next week.
Boys Basketball:
Heading into this week, the boys’ varsity basketball team holds a 2-2 record and is set to face Scarsdale at home next week. Four games into the season, the team has secured strong wins, including a victory against Pelham, where Rotimi Esiso was named MVP for North in the tournament, and a 20-point comeback win at Brewster.
Hockey:
Following a tough loss to end last season, Clarkstown Hockey has started strong with a 4-2 record. The team secured a 6-2 win against Scarsdale last week and will face Byram Hills this weekend. Their next home game is scheduled for January 8 against Pelham.
Wrestling:
Last week the Rams hosted a home tournament and placed 2nd, losing in the finals to Walkill from Section 9. They outscored their opponents 204-95 in their four wins from the day. Ryan Ciardullo, Will Roden, and Ian Hung (who also was named most outstanding wrestler of the day) each were crowned champions. Prior to this, the JV and varsity teams both won team titles. JV secured first place at the Yorktown JV tournament and varsity in Port Jervis. The Rams also clinched a spot in the Elite 8 against North Rockland.
