The summer of 2025 might just be the year of love. From Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s engagement to the highly anticipated Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez wedding, 2025 has seen it all regarding celebrity weddings. We asked students to judge the best wedding on the following: aesthetic/style, social media buzz, and, lastly, emotional impact. Students were given five weddings to choose from.
The five weddings our fourteen North students chose were those of Madeline White and DJ Andrew Fedyk, Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco, Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez, Charli XCX and George Daniel, and, lastly, Kalani Hilliker and Nathan Goldman.
Madeline White & DJ Andrew Fedyk
Not only did this wedding go viral, but it set a new standard for bridesmaid dresses, too. Madeline White handcrafted her girls’ dresses into stunning blue chiffon gowns, catching the eyes of millions globally. She claims that the dresses took 30 hours each to piece together. Their 3-day Santorini wedding included stunning views and caught the attention of Vogue magazine, which featured their wedding highlights. Receiving 3.5 million likes on their wedding post and many more views, they gained much popularity because of their wedding events, along with the surprise performance of Natasha Bedingfield, who sang “Unwritten,” which gained popularity through TikTok and the movie Anyone But You.
Selena Gomez & Benny Blanco
This couple is most likely popular amongst Gen-Z (following Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce). Selena, once known as a Disney star and now an entrepreneur, singer, and actor, has impacted the Gen Z community through her acting and social media platform. Selena has accomplished a lot despite the challenges she’s faced: lupus, mental health issues, and a kidney transplant. Benny, Selenas’ new spouse, gained popularity when the couple began dating. He has been known and featured in many popular songs, such as “Diamonds” by Rihanna and “Castle on a Hill” by Ed Sheeran. Regarding their wedding, it was known to be a small but intimate wedding in California with Taylor Swift in attendance. Receiving 23.5 million likes on Instagram and many more views, this smaller yet impactful wedding has touched the hearts of many.
Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez
Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez must have had the most high-profile wedding this summer, or, as a matter of fact, this year. With many wealthy people in attendance, like Ivanka Trump, Kim Kardashian, and Oprah Winfrey, this wedding was large. It took place over the course of 3 days in Venice. Featured in Vogue, Lauren Sánchez was dressed in an all-lace Dolce and Gabbana wedding dress. In the after-party, Usher performed in his pajamas.
Charlie XCX and George Daniel
This wedding was most likely the smallest wedding out of all the weddings discussed in this article, with only 20 attendees on the first day. However, they did have a larger gathering at Sicily, Italy. Known for being a talented singer, Charlie XCX did not have a wedding that caught the attention of people. Not many pictures were taken, but when they were, this wedding was unique and more on the modern side.
Kalani Hilliker & Nathan Goldman
The infamous “Dance Moms” star, Kalani, got married to Nathan Goldman this summer, by Lake Como, Italy. This wedding caught the attention of many due to the reunion of Kendel Vertes and Jojo Siwa, both of whom were on the show “Dance Moms.” They performed a dance from the show for Kalani at her afterparty. This wedding had the stunning views of Lake Como and other decor that set the scene of a magical wedding.
North Students’ Opinions
Out of 14 students (including at least one from each grade, 9, 10, 11, and 12), the winning wedding was Madeline White’s wedding, with five votes. In second place was Jeff Bezos’ wedding, with four votes. Third place was a tie, Selena Gomez and Charli XCX, both with two votes. And with one vote, Kalani’s wedding.
